Shiji Group is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We aim to be as open and transparent as possible around the information we collect when you visit our website, including through the use of “cookies.” The details contained on this page are provided to ensure you are fully aware of the cookies we use, explain what cookies are, how and why we use them and, where available, how you can reject or delete them.

Why do we use cookies

We use cookies on www.shijigroup.com to enable various types of functionalities and to better understand how people use our website. This allows us to offer you the best possible experience. For example, the cookies allow us to remember whether you are logged into your account, to remember what items you had in your shopping basket and to show you content tailored specifically for you.

Cookies are used in collaboration with our marketing partners to present you appropriate offers and advertisement as you browse other sites on the internet, based on the products you looked at while on our site.

What are cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data placed in your browser when you visit a website. They allow websites to recognize your PC, mobile, tablet, or other devices as you browse, serving various functions such as keeping you logged in, remembering site preferences, and collecting information about site usage for analytics. For example, persistent cookies enable us to save your password so you do not have to re-enter it every time you visit our website.

Under privacy regulations like the GDPR, the information collected through cookies (e.g., IP address, language preferences) is considered personal data, even if it does not directly identify you. Therefore, we process this data with special care. For non-essential cookies, we will only use them when you allow us to do so.

Types of cookies

The cookies can be categories by different criteria. One of them is the amount of time the cookies are being stored, which divides them in two categories:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser. They help websites recognize you and the information you provide as you navigate through different pages. For example, when you are browsing a Shiji Group site, the site will remember you for the duration of your visit, but the cookie will be removed from your computer as soon as you close your internet browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a specified period or until you delete them. They help websites remember your preferences and actions across multiple sessions. On your first visit to a Shiji Group website, you will be presented with a default view. Over time, the version of the site you see may change, as persistent cookies remember items you have previously viewed, or preference changes you have made.

Cookies can also be categorised according to the purpose for which they are being used, defining five types of cookies:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: These cookies are essential for the website to function properly. Without them, certain services you have requested cannot be provided. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in or filling out forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work.
  • Performance Cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. They do not collect information that identifies you; instead, they aggregate data to help improve website performance and user experience. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.
  • Functional Cookies: These cookies allow websites to remember the choices you make (such as your username, language, or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personalized features. For example, a website might be able to offer local weather reports or traffic news by storing information about your current location. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.
  • Targeting Cookies: These cookies may be set through our website by our advertising partners are used to deliver ads that are more relevant to you and your interests. They also limit the number of times you see an ad and help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They do not store directly identifiable personal data, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.
  • Social Media Cookies: These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the website to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies, you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.
